Since graduating I have continued my passion for making 2d and 3d work about locations, a sense of place. My work goes beyond the purely representational and is informed by the plethora of elements which each impact on the whole. Such diverse locations as coal mines, Buddhist temples, power stations, potteries, India and Derbyshire stone circles are among places I have made work about. Such diversity of location dictates diverse and eclectic responses including painting, installation and projection. How can the sheer blackness and claustrophobia of a coal-mine be depicted in similar style, form and colour as visually describing a Sri Lankan temple? This necessity gives an artistic freedom to go on exploring different media and ideas within my practice. It is this freedom that impels my creativity. I also lead workshops and have CRB clearance and public liability insurance. References are available.
